Differences between FUE and FUT techniques
Since its emerging at the beginning of 2000's, FUE technique has taken FUT technique's place as the most frequently used hair transplantation method. Well, why is it a method which is preferred so much? What are its advantages? Which method should we choose?
First of all, during FUE operation no hairy skin is extracted. Therefore in FUE method no edema and swelling occurs unlike FUT method. As there isn't any medical cut, incision line which is seen especially in close haircut does not appear. Many patients who had operations by FUT method, come to us to have hair transplantation again on the area where the skin was extracted. After some badly done suture procedures there is left severe scar tissues on scalp. Hair loss in this area may not be treated because these scar tissues' restoration is nearly impossible.
Of course FUE method has also some disadvantages. It is a practice which certainly requires experience. If it is done by an inexperienced one, healthy hair follicles can get damaged with micromotor. As in FUT technique strips are extracted from scalp such a problem does not occur. If punches which are too thick are used while graft-taking in FUE, some scars may happen at the back part of hair.
A doctor who knows and performs FUE method well can harvest between 4000-6000 grafts in a session. But in FUT method it is not possible to transplant so much hair. With FUE method it is possible to harvest same amount of grafts in the second session as well. But when scar tissue which may occur in FUT method is taken into consideration, such an operation's repetition is not seen very often. However expected results can be obtained only under control of doctors in a fully-equipped surgery.Would you like to make an appointment?
